The Movement - Author of Life

Acts 3:11-26 In this passage we read one of the most beautiful titles for Jesus. Jesus is, "the author of life." This passage is a sermon that the apostle Peter preached to a crowd that gathered after he had healed a lame man outside the temple. Peter stands and tells the people that he didn't heal the man but that Jesus' name had healed the man. He then calls the people to repent. Repent: This word is loaded with mostly negative images of angry religious people holding hateful signs. In this sermon we learn that repentance was not meant to be that way. This passage paints a picture of repentance that is full of hope, life, future, and joy. If repentance brings all of that maybe we should dust it off and try it again.
