Most songs have a back story; some are written to express the artist’s love for an individual, others to express the deep emotions felt after a painful experience. Some are recorded as tributes while others are written to express dreams or lament what might have been. Whatever the reason, there is almost always a story behind the music.
The Old Testament book of Psalms contains 150 ancient songs, written by a number of individuals to express their beliefs, hurts, and joys in various situations. The Psalms have been labeled as the “windows to the soul” because they express so precisely those feelings that are difficult to put into words. We connect with them on a deep level because they were written out of the same strong emotions we all experience, regardless of time or circumstance.
