Forward - Toward the front or the future.
Philippians 3
12 - Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
13 - Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
14 - I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Sometimes the shift we need to make, is to get our minds off of the past and on to the future. - Author Kevin Gerald
Exodus 14 - The angel of God that had been leading the camp of Israel now shifted and got behind them. And the Pillar of Cloud that had been in front also shifted to the rear.
- When we replay the past, we miss out on the present and we sabotage the future.

3 Reasons People Settle
1. People settle when they get sentimentally attached to a past season of their life.
2. People settle in a place of relational wounds.
Genesis 11
27 - This is the history of Terah's family. Terah was the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran was the father of Lot.
28 - Haran died in his hometown, Ur of Babylonia, while his father Terah was still alive.
31 - Terah took his family and left Ur of Babylonia. They planned to travel to Canaan. Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (Haran's son), and his daughter - in - law Sarai (Abram's wife). They traveled to the city of Haran and decided to stay there.
32 - Terah lived to be 205 years old. He died in Haran.
When you are offended or wounded relationally, it may seem justified to nurse the wound, to rehearse the injustice. You may have a right and good reason to be hurt. But anger will eventually consume you, and bitterness will destroy you if you let it. The best thing to do is to forgive those people and move on.

3. People settle because where they are is "good enough" and they want to stay comfortable.
