Cassandra Heikkila graduated from American University with a degree in film and cinema studies and has always had a passion for using her background in film and media to help build and grow non-profits. sShe believes film can be used as a common language to reach people all over the world. Soon after graduating she began working for Dermetel. Dermetel is a non-profit organization determined to advance awareness about dermatologic diseases amongst students and to increase access to high-quality dermatologic care for underserved patients worldwide. They stand by their beliefs that every person, no matter their income level or geographic location, deserves access to skin cancer prevention information, free sunscreen, and a top-notch dermatologist. Dermetel, formerly Dangerous Rays, was founded in 2011 by Misha Kaura, a then-undergraduate student. The Dermetel Board of Directors features students, entrepreneurs, activists, and full-time staff members. The Board of Advisors includes several Junior League-trained activists and board-certified dermatologists who provide guidance to our work.
