The Music & Art/LaGuardia Gospel Chorus Alumni Concert!

This historic event takes place where it all began — the original location of The High School of Music & Art. Come celebrate the talent and greatness of the Gospel Chorus and all who have contributed. The concert will feature singers and musicians who were part of the Music & Art/LaGuardia Gospel Chorus in the 70s-90s.
Director Victor Trent
Cook (“Three Mo’ Tenors,” M&A ’85) will take part in this epic
concert and Robert Demetrius Griffin (LaG ’89) will be the Alumni Music
Director and Choir Coordinator. The concert will honor Anthony Evans
(M&A ’79), who wrote the groundbreaking song “Never Alone” featured
in the movie FAME while a student at Music
& Art. This song, among many other favorites, will be performed. The
evening will recognize noted directors, teachers, and students who have
played a major part in creating this rich and lasting legacy. Please

Anthony G. Evans:
The incredibly talented Anthony G. Evans has been a musical force on the New York Gospel Scene since 1979. Since then he has performed in 21 countries around the world, including Europe and South America. He was also nominated for a Helen Hayes Award for his work in “Inspiration” performed at the Ford’s Theater in Washington, D.C.
Anthony’s dedication is visible in all aspects of his life, especially in serving his community. He directs four different church choirs and teaches music to students weekly. He has performed in benefit concerts at the United Nations for Tsunami victims and in Texas for Hurricane relief. He also developed the music program for the A. Phillip Randolph Institute Conference. Anthony is a classically trained pianist who was discovered by Alan Parker at the age of 18 for the film Fame. He was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on the movie’s soundtrack.
Anthony has worked and performed with Patti LaBelle, The Clarke Sisters, and Tremaine Hawkins. He was the musical director for Melba Moore and conducted the classical production of Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha. Anthony displayed another of his many talents when he worked with Spike Lee and Michael Jackson on the music video for the album HIStory. His unique performance style and athletic endurance have been a staple for annual European tour of Queen Esther Marrow’s The Harlem Gospel Singers.
Anthony is driven by his passion for all genres of music and feels his purpose is to spread God’s message through his talents!
Victor Trent Cook:
Victor
Trent Cook, counter-tenor, began singing at the age of three in his
church home, THE HOUSE OF DAVID.As a boy alto soloist, he sang with New
York Philharmonic with such conductors such as James Levine, Zubin Mehta
and Leonard Bernstein in famous venues such as The White House,
Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and the John F. Kennedy Center. He’s
traveled throughout Europe and Japan receiving rave reviews. His stage
credits include Off- and On Broadway, most notably Grammy award winner
and Tony, NAACP Award nominations for Smokey Joe's Cafe”. Television
credits include various soap operas, commercials and the 1988 male
vocalist $100,000.00"Star Search" winner. He’s shared the stage with
great talents, ranging from Pavarotti to Babara Streisand, Patti Labelle
and William Finn. Presently with ensemble Cook, Dixon & Young,
formerly known as Three Mo Tenors, from PBS Great Performances series.
Andrew Kaen:
Founder
and Executive Producer of Planet Heart’s annual world peace earth day
celebration which 2017 will be the tenth anniversary. He is also a
vibrational sound channel, singer/soulwriter and vibrational poet
sharing his gifts to be a connector and transmitter for world peace and
unconditional love, having been awakened to 5d unity consciousness 20

higher dimensional frequencies of galactic sound channeling, music
