This week we find ourselves at Butlers Alley for the I Happy Am Needle Drop Party doing our first ever live Funkytownpodcast. It was fun despite the microphones not working. If you were there and weren't able to hear it or if you weren't there at all, this is a good recording of the interview. What we did was talk about every track in order and then opened it up for question from the audience. The whole thing is about 40 minutes so I started the show off with a throw back I Happy Am live recording from the Jerry Jonestown Massacre show from about a year or more ago.(The Prophet) It really shows how far the band has come. We end the show the same way with another song from the same session. (The Giant)
The idea was to have the album playing during the interview but due to technical issues we were not able to do that but in post we can. So the cool thing about this is you get to hear the songs we are talking about while we are talking about them. The is a great companion piece to the album. If you don't have the album, you will want it after hearing this and if you have the album this interview will give you a deeper understanding and connection to this fantastic record. At least that is our hope and intent. If you want the album you can get a digital download here http://www.ihappyam.bandcamp.com/
Big thanks to the "other me" James Zametz of Keep Fort Worth Funky for putting it on and Butlers Antique for hosting. Cub for the delicious bbq sammiches, Dustin Schneider, the JJTM crew and Robotuner for the support as well as Steve Watkins, John Erwin and John and Sally Rody. Thanks to Susie Ramone for being the beer wench and Kevin Geist for manning the door. Plus our family and friends! We love you. Thanks for an awesome Q&A everyone.(that wasn't nearly as crazy as I thought it'd be, however still a little chaotic) #suckitstubbs
