Thanksgiving is an important holiday in the United States. History has shared with us, it was created by the pilgrims after they survived their first winter and before they endured another one. I was taught the pilgrims sat down to eat their bountiful meal after the fall harvest with the Indians who were native to the land. When I was younger I envisioned this meal as a time set aside for them to be thankful for all the blessings that had been shared with them as they also came together and looked forward to another year.
Today Thanksgiving seems to be a starting point for the shopping season of Christmas. A count down to other celebrations. But gratitude has been shown to be an important aspect of healing. When you have experienced a great loss, or a life changing illness, you are able to see things with grateful eyes.
So on this podcast we will explore things you are thankful for. The phone lines will be open and I hope you call in and share with us, things that make you thankful. The number to call is 202 570-7057.
