HOW TO ACT IN FAITH
ABC’s Of Faith
Scott Young.com – Pastor of Hope
Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Substance – “hupostasis”: (hypó, "under" hístēmi, "to stand") – properly, (to possess) standing under a guaranteed agreement ("title-deed"); (figuratively) "title" to a promise or property, i.e. a legitimate claim (because it literally is, "under a legal-standing") – entitling someone to what is guaranteed under the particular agreement. = CONFIDENCE
Hope – is a positive belief or expectation. = BELIEF
Evidence – what the people of faith did before they could see the fruit of their faith. = ACTION
Faith is ACTING on your BELIEFS in CONFIDENCE!
James 2:20 - You foolish person! Must you be shown that faith that does nothing is worth nothing? … or … faith without works is dead?
James 2:18 - But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
1. How Faith Acts Towards Those In Need
James 2:15 - If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, [16] and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? [17] Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
2. How Faith Acts Towards Darkness
James 2:19 - You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! [20] But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
3. How Faith Acts Towards Family
James 2:21 - Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?
James 2:25 - And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
James 2:26 - For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
