The sermon forAsh Wednesday, March 1, 2017. The sermon text is based on Luke 18:9-14
Today's Focus: Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the Christian's 40-day journey with the Lord to the cross and tomb, preparing for the proclamation of Easter. In the Bible, "sackcloth and ashes" were often worn to signify deep mourning or repentance. On this evening, we remember our deep need for repentance and turn in humility to God in repenetance. We look to him alone for forgiveness.
Sermon given by Pastor Jon Bergemann.
