Felony Friday 061 - Israel Torres Shares his Story: From Life Sentence to Presidential Commutation
On today's episode of Felony Friday Israel Torres joins the show to share what it was like to have his life sentence commuted by President Obama.
Israel was sentenced to life in prison at the age of twenty-one for a nonviolent drug offense. He thought he would be serving out his life sentence until President Obama commuted his sentence and granted Israel his freedom. Now that Israel has rejoined society he is contributing value and proving every day that non-violent drug offenders can do great things once given a chance to prove their worth on the outside.
A few months ago Israel appeared Michael Santos' Earning Freedom Podcast. Michael is a friend of the Lions of Liberty Podcast and was gracious enough to connect us with Israel to set up this interview today. This episode is a little longer than most. Make sure to listen to the entire show, because at the end host John Odermatt shares the reason why he brings so many non-violent drug offenders on the show and discusses the root cause of the violence associated with the war on drugs.
