In the first segment Holly and Will catch listeners up on some of the highlights of the first day of the tournament. Will and Holly G chat later in the show with Marci Doyle, Arnold Palmer Invitational Tournament Director; Jeff Babineau, Golfweek; and Damon Hack from The Golf Channel's Morning Drive.
Marci Doyle, API Tournament Director, joins Holly and Will and shares the news that presenting sponsor MasterCard extending their relationship with the tournament for the next four years; Hertz will be the associate sponsor for four years and Orlando Health has come aboard as an associate sponsor for four years. The tournament's purse has increased to $8.7 million and the winners now get a 3-year Tour exemption.
Marci added it has really been a celebration this week with so many of the players coming out and showing their support and pay tribute to Mr. Palmer. Also the fan experience has really improved with general public seating on 7 of 18 greens, concessions and restrooms upgraded, and selling of Arnie's Army T-shirts that benefit the charity.
Jeff Babineau, Golfweek, calls in to discuss the API and the condition of the course as well as how the tournament has been going so far.
Damon Hack, The Golf Channel, wraps up the show sharing Golf Channel's wall to wall coverage of the API and how this year it is a celebration of life. Damon and Holly also talk about the players and what they are doing this week to honor Mr. Palmer.
