On this edition of Thursday Night Tailgate our guests are: former Patriots, Bills & Ravens Pro Bowl FB Sam Gash, former Patriots Pro Bowl RB Tony Collins, sports talk radio host Lance Zierlein, former Steelers & Giants Defensive Coordinator Tim Lewis, and former Steelers Pro Bowl LB Robin Cole.
Sam Gash - We talked with Sam about how his body is holding up after he played FB in the League for 12 seasons and he's now in his late 40s. We also got his thoughts on playing alongside Kevin Turner for a few years in New England, and his memories going against another great friend of the show in Colts LB Jeff Herrod twice a year for most of their careers. He also talked about his time at Penn State and if he would allow his kids play football.
Tony Collins - We walked down memory lane with Tony. We talked about his Patriots record setting day of 212 rushing yards against the Jets in 1983, the sanctity of the locker room and the relationship he had with guys on the Patriots defense.
Lance Zierlein - Lance shared his insights on the QB situations with the Texans and the Browns, who he thinks will be the best team in the AFC South division next season, and if the Bengals are a team who suffered a one season blip or if they are a team on the decline.
Tim Lewis - Tim shared stories from his time as the DB coach and later Defensive Coordinator in Pittsburgh. He talked about the first time he met Greg Lloyd and their relationship. He also talked about how he committed to every college he visited as a recruit, how he ultimately chose Pitt and then what it was like to come back years later and coach at his alma mater.
Robin Cole - Robin shared great stories about being a part of the late 1970's Steelers defense. He talked about their win in Super Bowl 14 over the Rams, the pressure of stepping into the position that Andy Russell vacated, his memories of the 1984 AFC Championship game against the Miami Dolphins and Dan Marino and his induction into the Washington County Historical Society Hall of Fame for his work helping to fight prostate cancer.
