The mission of the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is "to educate, incite and entertain learners of all ages in the sciences and humanities by actively engaging them in the exploration of astronomy, aviation, Earth and space science."
Our guest, Jeanne Gerulskis will share with us 'What's up at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center?' We will first look back at 2017 for a short discussion on the challenges and accomplishments as well as a recap of the year's events and exhibits. In 2017, the Discovery Center had 40,000 visitors, including 9,000 school field trip participants.
Looking ahead to 2018, the center will feature two special exhibits; True or False – a fun and exciting package of activities for young and old, and Math Moves! – putting the ‘M’ back in STEM. Three new planetarium shows will debut in 2018; Wildest Weather in the Solar System, Mars, and Distant Reaches of the Universe. Stop by the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center and be sure to visit them on the web at www.starhop.com.
