Not even two weeks into the new year and already there's trouble for two state lawmakers.
Senate Independent Conference Leader Jeff Klein and New York City Assemblywoman Pamela Harris both made news this week for the wrong reasons. Klein, an increasingly powerful senator as he leads the breakaway faction of Senate Democrats, was accused this week by a former staffer of forcibly kissing her outside a bar in Albany in 2015. The Bronx lawmaker denies the claim.
Meanwhile, Harris was indicted this week in Brooklyn on eleven counts including charges of wire fraud, witness tampering, and wrongly claiming money from FEMA after Superstorm Sandy battered the downstate region in 2012. The Reporters Roundtable analyzes these stories.
