Welcome and thank you for listening. Happy Heart month. I hope your are taking care of the most precious thing you possess, your heart. If you don't take care of your own, you cannot take care of another persons. It starts beating 21 days into life and is the last thing to stop as you leave this world. It is you most dedicated organ, beating over 86,000 times a day regardless of the nutrients you feed it or the stress you put upon it. We are not really taught to take care of our hearts. We are taught early on to take care of our teeth and general care of our bodies with regard to infections. But rarely do we speak of caring for our heart until it starts to fail. By damaging the arteries with poor nutrition we put strain on the heart. By being overweight we put strain on the heart. It just doesn't happen after 40 when the blood pressure starts to rise. It starts in the 20 and 30s as plaque starts to form. Look around at soccer practice, a restaurant, or the mall. Many of those people have heart disease and do not even no it. Not until it fails and even then we do not give our hearts the attention it deserves. The original equipment we were born with is the best and we need to do everything in our power to protect and take care of it. Don't wait until it breaks.
