If I could pinpoint one issue in the Church today, it is that many Christians feel that they can follow Christ without losing control of their lives! And one way that this selfishness manifests itself is in how the Church submits to the authorities over them! I mean, we will submit when we get something out of it but when it truly costs us, many Christians have a hard time actually submitting, especially to leadership in the Church! This chapter has an underlying theme to it, and it is one that we will focus on quite a bit throughout our time in Luke 20, and that is with the concept of respecting the authority that has been established by God, and submitting to it in honor of Christ! We highly encourage you to join us as we venture through the topic of authority in the Church...a much needed topic for today!
