This week, Randi, Jaime, and Gabe discuss this week’s vice presidential debate. Tim Kaine made many excellent points, including some terrific answers on abortion.
We support Roe v. Wade. We support the constitutional right of American women to consult their own conscience, their own supportive partner, their own minister, but then make their own decision about pregnancy. That’s something we trust American women to do that.
Mike Pence gets the Walk of Shame for denying many statements both he and Donald Trump has made, including this jem:
Donald Trump and I would never support legislation that punished women who made the heartbreaking choice to end a pregnancy.
In the Cleveland Plain Dealer, former state Rep. Ed Jerse complained about how difficult it is to be a “pro-life” Democrat. After a lengthy discussion of the hardship of politicians, he reluctantly admits that education and contraception might be benefits of a Clinton/Kaine administration. We asked why education and contraception are the very solutions that the pro-life movement repeatedly ignore.
Secretary Clinton got a boost this week, as she was endorsed by LeBron James.
I also tell all my kids how important it is that they give back to the community. Because if basketball has taught me anything, it’s that no one achieves greatness alone. And it takes everyone working together to create real change.
When I look at this year’s presidential race, it’s clear which candidate believes the same thing. Only one person running truly understands the struggles of an Akron child born into poverty. And when I think about the kinds of policies and ideas the kids in my foundation need from our government, the choice is clear.
That candidate is Hillary Clinton.
