The Sin of Presumption

What is a contract? In short, it is an agreement between two sides in order to bring something to fruition. It is not dependent solely on one side, but on both parties meeting the contractual obligation to each other in order for the terms to be fully realized in the end! Many people believe that the covenant of salvation in Christ is only one sided, and no matter what we do, our position never changes simply because we believed at one point in our lives. But what does the Word teach? You see, there is a teaching circulating amongst the Church today that is commonly known as "once saved, always saved." And while it has aspects of truth woven within it, does it truly pass the litmus test of the Word? On the flip side, there is a teaching today that hinges its hope primarily on the efforts of man, thus producing Christians who have little to no joy in life. Which one is true? Which one is born of the Spirit, and which one has just enough of flesh laced in the cocktail of its message, so as to make the drink poisonous?
