Three years after Dario Argento's modest success, Suspiria, the Italian director returned to the pyschofantastical world of the Three Mothers. Inferno follows a man in America looking for his sister who just so happens to live in the second Mother's lair. Argento's wife, Daria Nicolodi, decided to leave the writers chair on the set of Suspiria so she could star as one of the leads in this followup. Toning down the visual flair and opting for a funky soundtrack makes the sequel pull some punches Suspiria knocked out of the park, but Argento channels some famous horror directors to create some unforgettable sequences.
