Welcome to another episode of G220 Radio.
On this episode of G220 Radio, we discuss the new biography of Susannah Spurgeon by Ray Rhodes. Many of us are familiar with Charles H. Spurgeon and the remarkable legacy he left us, but what about his wife Susie? We will be announcing the winners of the two copies of the book, so be sure to tune in and listen for your name if you entered.
G220 Radio Host George Alvarado's Review of Susie: The Life and Legacy of Susannah Spurgeon I got this book two days ago and finished reading it in that span of time. I could not put it down! From the very first chapter, I was captivated by the humanity the author revealed in Susannah and Charles Spurgeon's life. Their life long romance for each other was especially a blessing to read. This book was also just as much about Charles as it was about Susie. Their struggles, their afflictions, and their ministry to each other as well as to the body of Christ. I was convicted about my personal devotion to my wife and family, encouraged to persevere in ministry through trial and depression, and then saddened by the loss of such a godly couple. Ray manages to transport us into the personal lives of these two beloved saints, but especially into the integral role Susie played in the life of Charles. I cried after I was done reading. Partly because this book is such a beautiful memorial about a godly woman whose life and ministry may go overlooked. But mostly because this book was such a wonderful reminder of God's great mercy and grace in such broken vessels. I pray more men will read this book and be challenged as well as strengthened by the life Susie lived for Christ and for her husband Charles. Thank you Ray for this truly edifying work.
