Genesis 22:1-2 (ESV) 1 After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 2 He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
The Almighty has made a sacrificial request from the Man of Faith. A human sacrifice, his only son. Abraham responds in faith. Taking his son Isaac, they embark on a turbulent trail. A journey of no return for the latter and one of painful commitment for the father. Times of testing are tough for all God's children. It's difficult to make sense of it when all we see is the fire & wood. But why does a good God allow such seemingly cruel trials? Wait oh, why is Abraham overly calm about this, what does he know?
