#57 | How can we design a better candidate pipeline to address the inequities in fundraising?
I was especially intrigued and eager to connect with Nancy Withbroe and Josh Tobing who together this afternoon made the case that in our recruitment efforts and management practices we can address the inequities that are so prevalent in our workplaces. Nancy and Josh encourage supervisors to ask themselves how they are showing up for their team and ensuring their employees’ readiness for advancement.
Nancy and Josh boldly challenged us to consider whether the shallow candidate pool is any longer a valid excuse. What if the most important questions are how we have designed our pipeline and whether we have overlooked viable candidates who don’t fit our preconceived notions of what a fundraising professional should look like?
Before we wrapped up our conversation, I was grateful that they both were willing to provide input in a recent recruitment that I experienced while attempting to advance a candidate closer to front-line work. Be sure to check out their response!

If you're interested in joining us at an upcoming stop on the How Fundraising Really Works roadshow, it's it important to know that this is not the typical “Tips and Tricks” experience we've grown accustom to. Instead, we're going to confront the real reasons for why most fundraising strategies are designed to fail, challenge everyone’s assumptions about how fundraising really works, and ensure that fundraising professionals know how to be recognized and admired for meaningful work. Anyone who isn’t thinking more critically about the fundraising profession when they leave wasn’t paying attention.
