Whitney Sweetwine is a singer, songwriter, model and performer hailing from Southeast
Washington D.C. Her parents always encouraged her to excel in life, especially academically.
Little did her parents know, She was blessed with a voice that for her young age, was so sweet
and inviting. Whitney would slowly start to sway towards her love for the arts. She began to
secretly choreograph her own dance routines as well as write & sing her own songs when she
was just five years old. She realized she had some amazing gifts but she didn't know how to
express them.
Her passion to participate in the arts and constant childhood dreams of being "famous"
became greater as she got older. This sparked her interest in entertainment & made her long for
the comfort of being on stage in front of millions. While Being educated in the DC public school
system , she discovered a greater love for fine arts , dance & vocal performance. She joined the
choir, dance team, & cheerleading team to satisfy her need to express her music talents. She
was extremely shy about revealing her passion for singing so pursued dance & later,
professional modeling. In high school, she loved to be on stage and would often perform
freestyle dances at her school's awards assemblies. She also used this time to work on her
songwriting & voice. Throughout her youth, she would listen to singers such as Chaka Khan,
Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Minnie Ripperton, & new school artists like Aaliyah Beyonce,
destiny's child, usher, & Ciara. From these artists, she created her own unique, sweet yet
beautiful voice in hopes that one day people would embrace her music. Today she still pursues
both modeling and most importantly music. Besides modeling in a host of fashion events, She
has also continued to pursue her dreams to be in the music industry by hosting local talent
shows and performing at various places in the DMV area. Thus far, she has performed in
London, Atlanta, and all over the D.C., Maryland and Virginia Area. She has won numerous
music competitions including the DMV spotlight segment for D.C.'S WPGC 95.5 FM. She is also
one of the reigning R&B champions for D.C.'s 93.9 WKYS FM's VERSUS competition. Last but
not least, she has been recognized by 93.9 WKYS's EZ Street as one of the Top DMV artists.
Lastly , she won a worldwide competition for Hilton hotels Rockstar contest in which she wrote
and arranged a song &!commercial called “Make It right “. She was awarded a trio to the 2018
Grammy Awards and recognized by Hilton offices worldwide.."Every time I conquer something, I
feel that I am one step closer to my dream". She plans to stay humble even when she makes it
to the top and says that she can't wait to see her name in shining lights one day.
