Ray Hanania's The Arab street Podcast
News:Politics
Welcome to THE ARAB STREET Radio & Podcast broadcast from Chicago through 690 AM WNZK Radio in Detroit Michigan … It's Friday, April 12, 2018 ... and we are live on Radio in Detroit at WNZK AM 690.
This is one of two podcasts that I produce, this focused on Middle East issues. (I also host Ray Hanania On Politics Podcast which addresses mainstream issues. Look them both up on iTunes, Spotify or go to the website at RayHananiaOnPolitics.com for more info.)
This morning on The Arab Street Radio we are talking about the aftermath of the Israeli elections and the victory of rightwing fanatic, again, Benjamin Netanyahu. But we focus on the apathy of the Arab Israeli voters who boycotted the election and we discuss how they could have brought about change had they voted, but did not. In 2015 they elected 13 Arabs to the Knesset, out of 120 total Knesset seats. This time, they only elected 10 because of divisions and emotional reaction to anti-Arab provocations. If they voted to their potential of 20 percent of the population, they could elect 24 or 25 Arabs to the Knesset.
Can you imagine the influence they would have? Clearly, the oppressed Arabs in Israel can't. … We also talk about Arab American Heritage month which is now a national holiday celebrated in April by some 15 to 19 states, including Illinois where I live in Chicagoland.
And we give a shoutout to Warren and Amal David for coordinating this drive to make Arab American Heritage Month in April a national holiday. Through their efforts, so many states have gotten behind this campaign and it builds pride. Check them out at ArabAmerica.com.
