Nina Horne is a public policy expert, social entrepreneur, advocate for positive maturation, and founder and CEO of Oakland-based Samara Family Service. Most important, she’s a mom who’s been there and back, so she's putting her knowledge and experience to helping parents and their teens to build thriving families.
Nina started her career in the classroom, teaching living skills to developmentally delayed adults, teens, and children so that they could function more independently in their lives. She then spent 20 years as an educational publisher, working with leading educators and scientists to understand how teens and college students learn and grow. Nina used that deep knowledge of the classroom, learning styles, and instructional methodology of curricular materials to create more than 100 successful curricular systems (textbooks). Nina spent 10 years working on institutional systems-level change as a public policy advisor and consultant to understand how to solve big problems from a macro level, and build solutions from the micro level. Hear her story on this episode of Heart Stock Radio.
Heart Stock is a production of KBMF 102.5 and underwritten by Purse for the People.
