In the first closing Judges 17-18, we explored the Caanitzation of the spiritual nature of Israel. Chapters 19-21 is the second closing of Judges. In this story, virtually everyone in the story is unnamed representing groups of people.
While this chapter is superficially about hospitality and some seem to think it is an attack on patriarchal society and the mistreatment of women, in reality, it is about the Caanization of Israel. One should never take a single chapter out of the over-arching storyline of Judges.
The full Canonization of Israel is found in the condoning and committing of the following sins - homosexuality, adultery, rape, and murder. An interesting fact is that all four of these sins are capital offenses in the Torah and Israel is guilty of all of them.
These non-denominational Bible studies are led by Dr. Val and recorded live. Some 20-25 men meet weekly at 6:30 AM for an hour. They study and discuss a passage from Scripture. Questions are encouraged and often lead to interesting rabbit trails that help us discover and process additional Biblical truths.
