Years ago my buddy Derek Cortez and I were driving from Chicago to Madison. On the back roads. We were cruising through this dense country side and at about 65 mph. I quickly shouted out, he look at those pheasant… as we passed by this heavily wooded area. He laughed and said “there is no way you could see pheasant in those woods”. I challenged him so he turned the car around. We drove back up to the wooded area. We got out and walked about 20 yards and I pointed them out and where they were hiding in the woods. To his amazement he saw them, but even more amazed was that I saw them at 65mph… but trust me- I got nothing on God when it comes to seeing birds!

Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Wow, I am worth a bunch of sparrows… THATS SPECIAL…
I don’t get the big deal… Until you see the context.
So understand the text and the focus. Jesus is talking about the mundane… The hairs on your head, the number constantly changes!
Many sparrows… just think of all the God knows about just one sparrow, how fast it flys, where it flys, what it eats, how many grains it has eaten, how many times it has dive-bombed, swooped up, out over in through by etc… if it loses a feather or feathers. All the details God must know about one freaking bird… now multiply that times a multitude of birds.
The sparrow is of no great value to us… but it obviously is to God. And so when he says you are worth more than a multitude of sparrows… its a big deal. He knows everything about you EVERYTHING!
And he still loves you and watches over you.
v.29 “not one will fall outside your fathers care” - outside your fathers care: outside his divine will, or direct care. Nothing escapes his eye!
I think one of the biggest lies we believe is that God doesn’t care. He is not paying attention. We are overlooked, neglected and not special enough for him to focus on. We are average and so he doesn’t have time for average. Or we have sinned so he no longer watches over us… or when he does look at us it is only to correct us by whacking us with his big stick.
IT’S ALL LIES!
God sees you, knows you, created you, is focused on you, loves you, knows every detail about you and wants to communicate with you. So go for it!
