He earned a PhD in engineering from Stanford University, lead a high tech start-up, and ranked as the top venture capitalist in the US for the years 1995- 1999.
Ted organized and funded Most Likely to Succeed, a feature-length documentary on education that was directed by Greg Whiteley. The film has been an official selection of thirty major film festivals, including Sundance. To date, more than 7,000 communities in some 35 countries around the globe have screened the film, using it as a resource to spark discussion and inspire change. He also co-authored with Tony Wagner a book with the same title, analyzing our education system.
Last year, Ted’s new book What School Could Be was released, which chronicles his road trip to visit 200 schools across all 50 states during the 2015-2016 school year. He was intent on discovering inspiring educators, and that’s exactly what happened. What School Could Be presents stories of teachers in ordinary circumstances doing extraordinary things. It’s has been a top-selling education book since its release.
