A mum from Cruden Bay left her family and travelled to India for life transforming treatment for her MS. Maggie Conner's family, friends and neighbours worked together to raise £30,000 to send Maggie and her mum to India. While there, stem cells were harvested from Maggie's body, treated and stored. Her immune system was treated with Chemotherapy to kill it. The treated stem cells were re introduced to then re start the immune system. Maggie is doing well and has experienced improved, eye sight, mind set, writing ability and mobility. She is full of praise for those who raised the money and for the Indian Staff who treated her.
A second Cruyff Court has been opened close to Tullos Primary School in Torry. The pitch has been named after 2 footballing Legends - Dutch Johan Cruyff and Dons Neale Cooper who died in recent years. The first Cruyff Court at Catherine Street is enjoyed by many and is hailed as a success.
Department Store Debenhams is celebrating 35 years in the Trinity Centre. Celebrations included gift bags, staff in 80's outfits, drinks at 80's prices and awards for the longest serving staff. The celebrations were considered a huge success.
Tarves Heritage Project opened its doors to Prince Edward. Local school children volunteered to be part of a Victorian Lesson about potatoes in the re furbished class room. The Heritage project began life in 1993 and has since become an attraction drawing in visitors from many parts of the world.
