1 John 3:6-7
“Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.”
You choose to abide in him… YOU WILL IT~~
In the UFC there is a motto of those who are winners – they impose their will on the fight. No matter how hard they get hit or how hard they fall, no matter how tight the grip or hold is… THEY IMPOSE THEIR WILL ON THE FIGHT!
John makes it clear that we abide… it makes it sound like we are resting… but it is an active verb - we actively wait on the Lord.
Do you want to win? Then actively wait on God. Actively seek more of Jesus.
secondly you must not sin and pass it off as an excuse. The verse says: Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.
Do you know how many people I run into who do not see God at work in their life and do not see him in their life and they blame God or circumstances- and its really because they do not take responsibility for their lack of seeking God!
The biggest difference between winners and losers-
Winners take responsibility in losing…
Losers never accept responsibility for a loss AND…
when losers win they say it was luck.
BUT HERE IS THE KICKER… When winners win they take responsibility as well. They say I worked hard, I got great coaching, I practiced everyday, I put in more hours in the gym, I watched my diet… they own up to the responsibility.
One of my favorite lines in the movies is from Hoosiers… Gene Hackman tells his team…
What do champions want in the final seconds?
They want the ball.
What do you want in the hardest struggle of your life? You want the responsibility to seek God and to make him look Good. We are called to glorify God- that means make him look good- how do we do that? By us- you and me- taking responsibility for seeking God to the fullest. We don’t just say a magic prayer to God, he shows up and everything is better- that doesn’t glorify God… We are a part of the equation- we want the ball- we want to glorify God.
