Hebrews 12:28-29 talks of God being an all consuming fire. Thus God's Spirit God consume/overcome/overwhelm whatever it contacts. God's Spirit cleanses and purifies. Those who are touched by God will be refined by His fire and consumed by His fire. Those who rebel against God will be judged by His fire, and without Christ, destroyed by His fire. We have a choice what category we fall into. Those who love God, those who are filled with His Holy Spirit will worship Him in spirit and truth.
