Cogitations e152: about the prodigal son meme

I shared a meme in the WTT group asking if anything stood out as being wrong or not substantive. Many folk commented but no one picked the obvious nor put the parable of the prodigal son in its context. 

I cannot find a way to share the meme here in the show notes but it read: Jesus told the story of the prodigal son to make a simple point: never mind what you've done, just come home.  That is a feel good thought and it is a biblical truism that regardless of what we have done we can make it right with our Father. However, that is not the reason for the telling of the parable of the prodigal son. Take a listen and find out exactly what point Jesus was making with the telling of this timeless parable.
