Welcome to the BRAND NEW Dern After Reading Podcast.
This all came to be out of a mutual love of Laura Dern by your charming hosts Max and Nic
Before this inaugural episode, lets set the ground rules of our show-
-One 'Big Dern' (feature length film) and one 'Little Dern' (TV movie/episode) per week
-As well as a nice interstitial to break them up, known as 'Between Two Derns'.
-We will discuss our films at length and decide the level of 'Derness' and what we learned.
In this episode: Nic discusses the 2001 feature film "Novocain", Max and Nic talk about John Waters and a litany of media concerns, and Max closes us out with a scathing review of "More Things That Happened" (a compilation of deleted scenes for the 2006 David Lynch film "Inland Empire", for which Max has never seen). Needless to say not all Dern films are great, and not all directors can please Max (let it be known he really hates David Lynch).
