Not much is known of this man whom Jesus labeled, "the greatest born of woman". We know of his zeal, his unrelenting declaration of Truth in the face of adversity, his resolute and steadfast demeanor that reproved the religious leaders among the Jews and shamed kings from among the Gentiles! With such thunderous speech, and immovability in his purpose, how was he an unlikely hero in any degree? Simply put, according to the world's perception, he should never have amounted to anything in this life. He didn't look the part of a hero and he most certainly didn't take public opinion and the popular vote into the equation of what He did or said. In fact, he shouldn't have even existed! Listen to this message, cut from the same cloth as a sermon John the Baptist might have given in his time but be warned, this sermon is bound to step on someone's toes. But in light of whose life we were detailing, could anything else be expected? There is much we as the Church can learn from this hero of the faith, for he was a voice of one crying in the wilderness when no one else dared say what he said! He was tasked with preparing the coming of the Lord, and we as the Church are no different!
