Matthew 1:18–25
In Isaiah 40 the herald of good news is given good news to cry out (Isa 40:1–9). What is this good news? “Behold your God!” (Isa 40:9). God himself is the good news. But because of our sin and because God’s glory is too much for mortal man to behold we needed a saviour. Someone who could deal with our sins and show us God without God’s glory killing us. Matthew 1:18–25 deals with the question, “Who is Jesus Christ?” He is both God and man. He is “God with Us.” And he has come to save his people from their sins (Matt 1:21).
