From Sobriety To Recovery: An Addiction Recovery Podcast
Education:Self-Improvement
In this weeks episode we cover the passage/poem from my meeting tonight titled, "Blame."
Blame: Today I see that blame doesn't work. It doesn't work for two reasons. One, no one really escapes from a family illness and gets better until they identify the illness that is within them. This is particularly true as I get older. It doesn't matter anymore where the illness came from; what matters is how it works inside of me and what I do from there. Two, blaming someone else only keeps the focus off of me. The way for me to get and stay well is to keep the focus on myself, to learn who I am and to develop my own self. When I blame, I postpone my own recovery, and all the recovery that I have attained cannot serve me when my attention and mind are on someone else.
Mantra: "I recognize that blame doesn't work."
Quote: Never look down on anybody unless you're helping them up - Jesse Jackson.
