A defining trait of the true Church of Jesus Christ throughout all of history has been suffering! No matter what time period or nation, the true Church has always been marked as a suffering Church (2 Timothy 3:12). And what encourages joy in such a life? Two words: knowing and longing! You see, a Christian will only take risks according to the measure in which they wholeheartedly believe in those two words. One, they must KNOW that they have a better possession in Heaven, a Kingdom in which they will risk their lives for because it is that precious to them! And two, they must LONG for that Kingdom above their own...a desperate soul willing to give all for the One whom their soul loves! And it is this kind of love that has propelled men and women to risk all for their King!
