Description:
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect people all over the country, millions of us are experiencing Grief and Loss on a massive scale. This pandemic is a completely unique event that is very difficult to navigate. People are truly in their feelings, and no one really knows how to describe what they are going through.
Thankfully, there is actually a psychological explanation for dealing with this kind of emotion. Today, I will talk about the 5 Stages of Grief and Loss specifically during COVDI-19. I will help you understand all the stages and figure out what stage you might currently be in.
Unlike other psychological theories that occur in a specific order, meaning you can not go to level three unless you made it to level two and processed what you needed to go through. With the 5 Stages of Grief and Loss, you can actually bounce around and experience the stages in a different order than expected. By the end of this podcast you will be able to identify your own Grief process and I will provide recommendations for treatment if you are someone who needs more help.

Stand Out Quotes:
[04:52] “When we mentioned grief and loss and mental health, myths of grief and loss do not have a timeline. And what that means is some people may be in the shock, denial stage...everybody can go through grief and loss differently. “ - Doctor TK
[12:30] “ I'm here to tell you that yes, you should go get help, especially if it's impacting academic performance in school, occupational functioning. If you're currently working even from home and or in the field and, or if it's impairing your relationships with family or friends or loved ones, meaning your tolerance is a lot shorter and now you're causing arguments for no reason, then yeah, you may want to go talk to somebody.” - Doctor TK
[13:32] “Acceptance is not forgetting. It's accepting the fact that you've processed this loss and that you're accepting that it's another chapter waiting for you. And you have to decide how you want to live out that chapter.” - Doctor TK
