1 Peter 1:13-21
We saw in 1 Peter 1:1-12, that looking to the suffering and glorification of Christ has always been an encouragement to God’s children. So even when we are “grieved by various trials,” we look to the gospel, we look to our living hope, our inheritance, and our salvation ready to be revealed. Peter, having told us about our salvation and hope, causes us to ask ourselves: how should that hope impact us? What should we, as believers do?
This section of 1 Peter is really broken up into two main sections. A series of imperatives that instruct Christian’s how to live in light of our hope (vv. 13-17); and the indicatives, where Peter restates the marvelous work of God that is the reason for giving us hope (vv. 18-21).
Peter gives us three exhortations for the believer to obey in living a life of hope:
1. Ready Your Minds (v. 13)
2. Reflect God’s Holiness (v. 14-16)
3. Revere Your God (v. 17-21)
