Any just society needs a penal system to keep its citizens safe. Some crimes are more serious than others and so we have maximum, and minimum-security prisons, halfway houses, jails, and detection centres, to cater for the vast array of offences. And just as it is on earth, so it is in the spirit world. In this 2-part series on Hell, I discuss the penal system in place in the underworld for the spirit of lost men and rebel angels. We will learn about Tartarus, Gehenna, Hades, and the Bottomless Pit. In part II we will visit with a man in Hades and learn some more about this terrible place and how to avoid it.
