In the wake of George Floyd’s death on May 25, 2020, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, there has been a large outcry for social justice and systemic reforms. The Black Lives Matter Movement as well as many countries around the world have come together to protest the way that people of color have been treated by law enforcement and other judicial systems to create what is debatably the largest Civil Rights movement in history. For a lot of us, this is the first time we’ve been exposed to such a large movement, and it can be difficult to understand what to do. I sat down with Paris, France, based author and Professor of Journalism, Nita Wiggins, to discuss ways we can learn to listen, accept and understand each other during this time and moving forward.
