Your Crisis Will Birth New Opportunities
Today’s 2 Empower U episode has Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach talking about crisis – what it means, why it happens, and how to handle it. The Pastor also shares a story about Jesus and how he handled a certain crisis that happened to Him.
Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach also talks about how you can turn a crisis into beautiful opportunities.
How Jesus Responds to Crisis
Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach cites Matthew 14:13 in telling the story of how Jesus responded to a crisis in His life – the death of His cousin John the Baptist. The Pastor shares that Jesus isolated Himself and waited upon the Lord in prayer. Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach then reveals how Jesus turned this crisis into a blessing – especially for the 5000 people who were waiting for Him.
“When a crisis happens in your life, isolate yourself with God.”
When faced with a crisis, don’t panic and don’t go around running and asking for help. Let God help you.
Keep Your Priorities Straight
Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach also talks about Matthew 14:14 and how Jesus didn’t allow a crisis to stop Him from ministering people. He asks you to look at Jesus as an example in handling crisis. You must never stop what you were doing before the crisis happened. Be like Jesus and keep moving.
“God called us to serve; crisis is not an excuse to stop serving.”
Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach also explains why it’s not right to stop going to church or serving the ministry when a crisis happens to you.
Be a Part of the Solution, Not the Problem
Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach goes on to share Matthew 14:15-16, which tells the story of how Jesus turned a problem (the crisis) into a part of the solution. The Pastor wants you to understand that even if there seemed to be no way out of the crisis; Jesus didn’t stop working out a solution.
“God expects you to be a part of the solution. Not the problem.”
Contribute With What You Have
Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach further shares Jesus’ story through Matthew 14:17-18, which is where you’ll find out how Jesus gave everything (the solution to the problem) to the people even if it was all He had or all the disciples found. The Pastor wants you to know that you can do this, too – and that you should have faith that God will take care of what you unselfishly gave.
“God can do more with less.”
Whatever you wholeheartedly give, Jesus will multiply.
Give Thanks to God
Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach helps you understand the value of prayer, especially in the time of a crisis. But the Pastor stresses the difference of “just praying” and “praying intelligently”. He tells you how important it is for you to not only ask God for a solution to your problem, but to also give thanks to Him.
“Understand the power of thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is something that happens every day of your life.”
Don’t React in Flesh
Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach asks you not to blame others – not to blame God – for the crisis that’s happening in your life. The Pastor wants you to stop embracing the negative mentality and allowing the flesh to fuel your reaction. The best way to react to crisis, according to Pastor Thomas A. DeLoach, is to hang on to your faith in God.
“We must respond to every situation in faith.”
“God has something big in your crisis moment for you.”
Your crisis will birth new opportunities.
