We got into a great conversation with Dale Cory to breakdown the first couple of weeks in MLB.
Baseball has taken a ton of criticism this year for their failed negotiations on getting a season going. The league lately has has had complaints levied against them because of their decision to not put their teams into a hub city bubble. The season got underway and within a few games there were a lot of positive Covid19 test results. The team that was hit the hardest was the Florida Marlins who had 21 members of their team test positive. This led baseball to postpone a slew of games to try to stop the outbreak. Florida had to scramble to get replacement players and the motley crew has compiled a 5 and 1 record to put them atop the NL East division. Derek Jeter the CEO and part owner has worked some magic and then trusted Don Mattingly his manager to do his best to win some ball games. Dale is a life long Mets fan and his team has struggled to find some consistency in the same division. The other story out of the NL East was the season ending injury to Braves pitcher Mike Soroka the Canadian ace. He tore his achilles tendon trying to field ball as he ran off the pitchers mound. We sure hope that he can recover swiftly.
We brokedown the Jays who have also struggled to find consistency and wins. The Yankees are 9 and 2 to have a huge lead in the AL East. Our discussion turned to the other top teams in the league! The Cubs have won 6 in a row and sit comfortably atop of the NL Central at 10-2 the Twins have the same 10 and 2 record and are on top of the AL Central. Oakland has won five in a row to put them on top of the AL West. To round it out in the NL West The Rockies are percentage points ahead of the Dodgers.
It was not really as in depth as we will probably do in other podcasts because of the other sports taking the spotlight from baseball currently. It was a fun discussion though and we recommend that you watch! Enjoy the conversation
Take care
