E51: GP of the Year - GP Principal, Motherhood and NHS Hero - There are no Limits to Achievements
In this week’s episode Dr Farzana Hussain, a GP principal working in Newham joins us to share her story. You may have seen her face around the nation as she was selected to be one of faces for the NHS 72nd birthday! We explore her journey from the very beginning all the way to being awarded GP of the year. We delve into what it took to become a pioneering GP while balancing motherhood. She touches upon her personal struggles including the loss of her mother during medical school. Dr Farzana champions workplace flexibility; female GPs to pursue entrepreneurship and the opportunities that come with partnership.
This was truly an insightful episode and we learnt we should never to be afraid and always try.
Dr Farzana Hussain is the GP principal at The Project Surgery. She is the clinical director for a primary care network and the Co-Chair of National PCN at NHS confederation. Most recently she was awarded GP of the year.
