Featured in TIR Episode 161 (Part 1 of 3): Drummer, composer and producer Wardell Potts, whose credits include three No. 1 and many top 10 hits. As one of the SOLAR label’s core musicians, he provided beats for some of R&B’s most memorable acts, including Dynasty, Shalamar and the Whispers. Among his best-known creations was the latter group's 1983 funk-dance classic, "Keep on Lovin' Me."
Other artists Potts has worked with include: Leon Sylvers, Evelyn King, Gladys Knight, Regina Belle, Jerry Knight, Tavaras, the Jets, Five Star, Atlantic Starr, Brothers Johnson, Tyler Collins, Tracy Spencer and Hugh Masekela.
Here he talks about the great SOLAR legacy and being featured on several all-time classic R&B hits, his current radio show, and the return of his original band, Dynasty.
