Galatians 1:No Other Gospel
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different (GK= Second class) gospel— 7 not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort (pervert by adding) the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. (Anathema… a curse that gets worse and worse)
10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man (GK = change to be agreeable), I would not be a servant of Christ.
"The turning point in our lives is when we stop seeking the God we want and start seeking the God who is."
- 1 WHAT IS THE GOSPEL
Generally speaking, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, or the message of salvation, justification, and sanctification, is explained by the apostle Paul in his epistle to the Romans, especially in chapters 3 to 8.
DEFINITIONS:
Salvation - Salvation in Christianity, or deliverance or redemption, is the "saving [of] human beings from death and separation from God" by Christ's death and resurrection.
It is the rescue or deliverance from sin, death and the future wrath of God.
The bible speaks of salvation as “You are saved”, “you are being saved” and you have been saved. Salvation is through the grace of God and dependent on Gods work on the cross and dependent on his continued work in our lives. Salvation is ultimately then understood as the comprehensive sum total of the benefits bestowed on the believers by God.
Justification - It is a legal act by God (1) the act by which God moves a willing person from the state of sin (injustice) to the state of grace (justice); (2) the change in a person's condition moving from a state of sin to a state of righteousness;
Sanctification - Sanctification is that renewal of our fallen nature by the Holy Ghost, received through faith in Jesus Christ, whose blood of atonement cleanseth from all sin; whereby we are not only delivered from the guilt of sin, but are washed from its pollution, saved from its power, and are enabled, through grace, to love God. Sanctification is the lived out presence of Gods work in the conscience, heart and actions of the believer.
- 2 WHAT IS THE BAD NEWS
We serve an awesome, good, holy God who is sinless, perfect and just.
Why is that bad news?
Because we are not awesome, good, holy, sinless, perfect and just.
The Bad News is that there is none righteous, no not one (Romans 3:10). We all sin and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
- 3 WHAT IS THE GOOD NEWS
His love for us made a way.
John 3:16
If that doesn’t rock your world then you do not realize how Holy God is and how evil you are.
