E60: Lucy Khanam - Harnessing your Hobby to form a Brand and Freelance career

In this week’s episode we are joined by Lucy Khanam, a Freelance Calligrapher, Art teacher and all round art enthusiast. She has been freelancing for over 8 years now and much of her work includes private commissions as well as brand collaborations with Qatar Airways, Jo Malone and John Lewis amongst many others. She also leads highly popular adult calligraphy workshops.

We discuss the world of creativity, the uncertainty of forming a career in freelance whilst also teaching. We delve into how you can turn a hobby into a career working with the likes of John Lewis amongst others. Lucy tells us about her journey how she began with an anonymous page to now being the face of the very well known brand LucyArts. Finally we discuss the challenges and various roles she has to occupy as a freelancer to give us a real insight to what it’s like.
