“I am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made”
Text: Psalms 139:13-16
Thesis: God is our maker, and He does all things perfectly!
- Everyone is fearfully and wonderfully made.
- That includes the unborn to the oldest person, the well and the sick, the mentally healthy and the mentally challenged, the physically whole and the physically challenged, both male and female, and every ethnicity and color.
- God loves the unborn baby!
- God had knowledge of us in his mind prior to our being formed in our mother’s womb.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5)
- We did not exist elsewhere prior to be being born.
- God’s Word refers to the unborn as persons by using personal pronouns and not in language as to describe an object or fetal tissue. Note the use of “I” and “My”.
- God created everyone in His image.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
- Both male and female are made in God’s image. Both encompass the attributes of God.
- God is referred to in scripture using the male gender description as “father”, but is described as nurturing and tender as used to describe a mother.
“Jesus said, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.” (Mathew 23:37)
- God only created one race of people that is “Adam’s race”.
- There are multiple ethnicities from this one race that have developed over time.
Definition: “It is the state of belonging to a subgroup of the population, sharing similar physical or social attributes.
- Everyone is from the same family because we all are from the same parents, Adam, and Eve. God calls us to love like family.
- God knows and loves the oldest of people.
The Psalmist states, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (vs6b)
- God’s Omniscience knew me prior to birth and the day I will die and everything in between.
- God never granted anyone the right to end the life of the innocent.
“Do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty,” (Exodus 23:7)
- Everyone has great value and a great purpose in life.
