Vania King is Serving Up Hope: WTA Pro Finds Passion Changing Lives Around the World with Tennis
Vania King has accomplished a lot as a professional tennis player! She's reached a career high ranking of #3 in the world, she's won 2 Grand Slam titles, she's served on the WTA Player Council and so much more. But as she begins to transition off the WTA due to an injury that just won't heal, she's finding passion, love and new beginnings off tour as she embarks on a new project. Founded in 2019, Vania has created a non-profit organization called Serving Up Hope. Her goal and mission is to develop the social and physical skills of underprivileged children through tennis. Currently with programs established in Kampala, Uganda and Santiago, Chile her team is working to educate communities while providing and maintaining tennis programs and allowing at-risk kids the chance to learn and play the sport we all love.
In this episode we talk all about her upcoming retirement from the WTA; how the idea of Serving Up Hope emerged, the challenges she faces as she navigates this amazing project, how she is changes lives with tennis and everything in between.
