Today we'll listen to 2 songs; LOOK AT THE CEILING, written from the point of view of a young girl who dissociates in order to survive her sexual abuse. It's used in treatment programs, classes, training workshops, and private practice for adults and teens. Therapists have used this song for years to gently get this subject out onto the table, and 'break the ice' for clients and women's groups, because it works to enable young girls (and boys), to more easily share their experiences; let go of the shame, and begin their healing. It's immediately followed by LOVE IS THE ONLY MEDICINE, a song I wrote specifically to bring people back up, after hearing "Look At The Ceiling". For a video of me performing these two songs back-to-back at our Conference on The Healing Power of Laughter And Play, check out https://vimeo.com/ondemand/openingdoors. The entire :75 minute presentation is available for streaming or download for a small fee. Thanks for stopping by.
